Polaris Industries has reported a net income of $94.34m, or $1.33 per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2012, up 39%, compared to $67.63m, or $0.95 per diluted share, for the same period in 2011.

For the third quarter of 2012, the company's sales increased 21% to $879.94m, compared to $729.86m for the same period a year ago.

Operating income rose 28% to $141.56m for the quarter, compared to $110.29m for the same period last year.

Gross profit grew 26% to $259.78m for the quarter, compared to $206.83m for the same period previous year.

Off road vehicle division sales increased 18% to $573m for the quarter, while sales of the on-road vehicles division rose 78% to $63.4m.

Polaris CEO Scott Wine said, "We began the third quarter with significant momentum, and thanks to broad based consumer demand and market share gains for our RANGER and RZR side-by-side vehicles, we positioned the company for a strong finish to the year."

The company expects full year 2012 earnings in the range of $4.32 to $4.37 per diluted share and sales to grow in the range of 19 to 20% from 2011.
